All Stars

2018 All-Stars Process

In the 2017 season our league fielded a total of six All-Star teams, 2 8U, 2 10U, and 2 12U. The girls competed, improved, and built friendships that will last a lifetime. Our 2018 All-Star season is ready to build on that tradition. We are planning for 2 teams each in our 8U, 10U, and 12U divisions. We will consider adding another team for a division, if the interest level(both players and coaches) and applicable skill sets exist. If your daughter played up a division during the recreational season, she must play her age division for All Stars.

Per USA rules, to be eligible for All Stars, players must have played in 75% of the recreational season games.

Here are important dates and procedures for selecting our All-Star teams:

Saturday, March 31, 2018: Deadline to stop playing Travelball and declare All-Stars

If your daughter is playing Travelball  and would like to try out for All-Stars, please send a declaration through email that your daughter intends to try-out for All-Stars to brandiroberts@4ssoftball.com  AND billbeasley@4ssoftball.com

Friday April 12 , 2018, 5:30pm at the Shay Hub:  All-Stars Parent Meeting

This meeting is MANDATORY in order for your daughter to be considered for All-Stars. Please attend this meeting even if you are unsure about applying for All-Stars.  There will be a sign-in sheet.

Sunday, April 28th, 2018:  Assessment Day

MANDATORY player assessment day from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Wells Fargo Field

        • 12U - 12 to 2pm  Wells Fargo Field
        • 10U -   2 to 4pm  Wells Fargo Field
        • 8U   -   4 to 6pm  Wells Fargo Field

All Spring 2018 Team Managers and one coach from each team will be given a ballot containing the names of the All-Star eligible players. Each Manager and Coach will rank all of the players in the division (1 through total number of eligible players).

Ballots will be collected by the President.

Player Agent, President and Registrar will count the ballots and tally the results.  The top 10 players will be selected for each division's team.  Once these players are allocated, the manager for each team will be selected by the Board.  The selected manager will then select 2 additional players to fill out each team.

The Voting members of the Board will meet and give final approval on all All-Star team selections.

Families will be notified if their daughter was or was not selected for All-Stars by the morning of May 2nd.

The All-Star experience is different than our Recreational Spring program. While our Recreational Spring season is about instruction, development and inclusion, All-Stars is about developing advanced skills and a winning attitude in a highly competitive environment. Some players thrive in this environment, while other players (and their parents) do not. It is important as parents to make this distinction for yourselves as well as your daughters. As you can imagine, the All-Star experience is action packed. Playing 6-7 weekend tournaments between mid-May and June is very time consuming and demanding on the entire family, but the experience can be rewarding.  If any team advances to State, there will be a trip (to Lancaster) with a two or three night stay and a tournament fee. Players' families should expect to pay roughly $150 per night for hotels and for meals during any travel tournament. Our tentative tournament schedules and fees are as follows:

  8U Storm

8U Force (Gold) 10U Storm (Silver) 10U Force (Gold) 12U Storm

*** The listed fees are the amount it costs to attend all the tournaments and include  2 pairs of pants, 2 jerseys and 2 pairs of socks. This fee will likely decrease with All Star fundraising funds or if less tournaments are attended.

We will have multiple practices each week from the beginning of May through June and potentially early July (note that there will be many practices during the first two weeks of May as we prepare for the first tournament).  In fairness to all of the players on the team, you need to commit to the practice and tournament schedule (and make sure you are on time).  Tournaments typically run Friday through Sunday, however, you need to be available for occasional Thursday evenings as well.  Fees cover basic uniform and tournament fees.  Each team is responsible for other expenses which may include the State Tournament,  helmets, All-Star bags and/or All-Star jackets.  Teams are encouraged to fundraise or solicit sponsors to offset costs.

If you have any questions related to the All-Star process, please feel to contact BillBeasley@4ssoftball.com or our All Star Coordinator at JoeBoeckman@4Ssoftball.com

We are excited that we have the ability to offer a program like All-Stars to the 4S Ranch and surrounding communities - it is a great experience and we look forward to the 2018 season!
